When I started The Neurotech Napkin, the mission was simple: neurotech will soon be mainstream, but most people are caught between wanting to understand it and not knowing where to start. The Napkin was my attempt to fix that: make the science, the companies, and the momentum accessible to anyone.
That mission hasn't changed. It's still the core of everything we do here.
But something interesting happened along the way. The audience grew, and molded. People started asking not just what is neurotech but where is it going? What companies are at the forefront? What are regulatory bodies doing about it? The curiosity got sharper. More professional. More urgent.
So the Napkin is evolving to meet it.
The free newsletter stays exactly what it was built to be — your weekly guide to understanding what's happening in neurotech, written for humans not researchers. That's not going anywhere.
But for those who want to go deeper — the funding rounds before they hit the trades, the regulatory signals, the M&A intelligence, the hiring velocity data across the ecosystem — that's becoming its own thing. A paid tier, and eventually a live CI dashboard pulling real-time data from FDA filings, ClinicalTrials.gov, and funding databases.
We're also moving to Beehiiv. Same newsletter, just in a better home. You're already here if you're reading this.
More details on the paid tier coming soon. For now, just know the Napkin is still the Napkin — it's just becoming the full version of what it always wanted to be.
Thanks for being here from the start.
Until next time,
— Daniel Kim
